Neil Fligstein is the Class of 1939 Chancellor’s Professor in the department of sociology at the University of California at Berkeley. He is also the director of the Center for Culture, Organization, and Politics at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment. He is the author of seven books including Euroclash: The EU, European Identity and the Future of Europe, which was published by Oxford University Press in 2009, The Architecture of Markets, which was published by Princeton University Press in 2001, and the forthcoming A Theory of Fields, which he co-authored with Doug McAdam and will be published by Oxford University Press. He also is the author or co-author of more than 70 papers. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and he has been a Guggenheim fellow and a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.
