Mohamed Amersi

Mohamed Amersi is actively engaged in the full spectrum of activities ranging from for-profit, responsible-profit, and not-for-profit. He is the Founder & CEO of Emergent Telecom Ventures, an entrepreneurial Emerging Markets Consulting, Advisory, and Asset Management firm specializing in Telecoms, Media, and Technology. His nonprofit activities are directed through The Amersi Foundation, which actively supports causes and charities in Education, Poverty, Conflict, and Religion in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. More recently, while at the University of Oxford’s Said Business School, where he earned a distinction and was cited on the Dean’s list, Mohamed launched the Inclusive Ventures Group, a social impact investing platform that has invested in numerous education, livelihood, health, and waste management activities in Africa and Asia.

Mohamed is an Honorary Fellow of Brasenose College, University of Oxford, a member of the Governing Council and Vice Chair of the Strategic Planning and Resources Committee of the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, UK, a member of the Global Leadership Council of the Said Business School, University of Oxford, a member of the Board of RuralShores Business Services, Bangalore, India, a member of the Advisory Boards of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and Toucan, a member of the Development Board of the British Academy, and a member of the British Academy’s Steering Committee and Corporate Advisory Group of the Future of the Corporation Project.

In the philanthropy arena, Mohamed is a Trustee and Member of the Board of Prince’s Trust International, the Chairman of the International Advisory Council of The British Asian Trust, a Member of the Advisory Board of Mosaic, and a supporter of Dumfries House, all charitable initiatives launched under the patronage of HRH The Prince of Wales. In addition, Mohamed is a Trustee of the Satyarthi Foundation, SIMC Zurich, Islamic Reporting Initiative, and United We Reach.

Presently, through the Inclusive Ventures Group, Mohamed’s main focus is in the sphere of social innovation, social finance, and social entrepreneurship where through his experience in business and the private sector, and by deploying his network, he is engaged in supporting social enterprises and entrepreneurs to find solutions to social, cultural, or environmental problems, balancing the needs to make a return on investment with a need to “return to society”.
