Hanna Szymborska

Hanna Szymborska is Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Birmingham City University, UK. She has previously worked at the Open University, UK and the UK Civil Service. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Leeds. She specialises in the issues of economic inequality and the financialisaton of the economy. In her research, Dr Szymborska analyses links between macro- and microeconomic dimensions of inequality, investigating the impact of changing financial systems and economic policy on class, gender and race inequality. Her research interests also encompass the history of economic thought, focusing on Poland. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in edited volumes and policy reports, and gained recognition of the 2016 EAEPE-Simon Young Scholar Prize. Hanna is dedicated to making the economics profession more inclusive as one of the co-founders of Diversifying and Decolonising Economics (D-Econ). She also sits on the committee of the Lipinski Foundation and the Polish Economic Network and has been previously involved in the work of the Association of Heterodox Economics, the International Association for Feminist Economics, and the Women’s Budget Group Early Careers Network.
