Hong Kong | InterContinental Hotel Kowloon

The Institute for New Economic Thinking held its annual plenary conference in Hong Kong from April 4-7, 2013 at the InterContinental Hotel in Kowloon. The event discussed Asia's emergence in the global economy and other core issues.

The event is called “The Changing of the Guard?” because it will focus on the most pressing global questions of our time, such as economic inequality and financial instability, all set against the backdrop of Asia’s rising importance in the world. The conference is being co-sponsored by INET’s partners at the Fung Global Institute and the Centre for International Governance Innovation.

The conference will be a global media event, broadcast in partnership with CNBC Asia and China Business News. Speakers will include Nobel laureates such as James Heckman and Michael Spence; global business leaders such as George Soros, Victor Fung, N.R. Narayana Murthy, and Lord David Sainsbury; Asian economic experts such as Hiroshi Watanabe, CEO of the Japan Bank for International Co-operation and Zeti Akhtar, Governor of Bank Negara, the central bank of Malaysia; and major economic figures such as Simon Johnson, Niall Ferguson, and many, many, more.
