INET Co-founder William H. Janeway Awarded CBE by Her Majesty the Queen


INET co-founder William H. Janeway has been granted the honorary award of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services in education and for his support of the University of Cambridge.

Janeway also is the author of the forthcoming book Doing Capitalism in the Innovation Economy, a work that Nouriel Roubini called “a masterful historical and conceptual analysis.” In the book, Janeway draws on his more than forty years of experience in venture capital - including his time as the head of investment firm Warburg Pincus’s Technology Investment Team - to explore the intersection between economics and innovation and explain how to restart the innovation economy.

In addition to being an INET co-founder, Janeway is a director ofMagnet Systems, Nuance Communications, O’Reilly Media and Roubini Global Economics. He also is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cambridge in America, University of Cambridge and a founding member of the Board of Managers of the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance (CERF).

Janeway is a member of the Board of Directors of the Social Science Research Council and theBoard of Science Technology and Economic Policy of the National Academy of Sciences.

He received his doctorate in economics from Cambridge University where he was a Marshall Scholar and was valedictorian of the Class of 1965 at Princeton University.
